Yellowstone reef dive site

This site is named for a large coral boulder. It looks yellowish when viewed from the surface. Also, it is in line with a large unusual yellow rock located 500 m inland from the dive site. With the deeper depths of this reef at over 30m, deep divers may experience some of the larger sea life we have here. For example, stingrays and Napoleon Fish.

Named after Yellowstone Park in the USA because of the large pinnacle of yellow corals visible from the surface and the nearby inland yellow rock. In a battle of vivid colours, this site also holds a variety of radiant red and black corals in addition to lunar-tailed groupers. The site can only be accessed using a boat. Across this reef, it is one of the few places to see groups of Batfish and at 27m there is a massive Black coral bush, which marks the turnaround point. Move up the reef to a depth of 12-15m.

A great reef for divers of all levels. The Yellowstone Reef consists of three large coral gardens. Also, there is a great pinnacle in the shallow area, full of red sponges and nudibranchs.

Yellowstone is a sloping coral reef with sand patches cut through at depth. The reef runs to roughly 40m depth. Other than the coral pinnacle which looks yellow from the surface, giving this site its name. There are two other large pinnacles to explore. There is an array of black coral on this reef with a group of lunar-tailed grouper, batfish, jacks and tuna to swim with. This site is one of the deeper recreational dives in Aqaba.
