Lockheed TriStar L-1011 Aircraft in Aqaba: A Unique Dive Site

Explore the captivating Lockheed TriStar L-1011 airplane in Aqaba, a wide-body passenger aircraft with a storied past. Abandoned at King Hussein Airport due to unsuccessful business ventures, this aircraft now serves a new purpose thanks to ASEZA. They orchestrated its deliberate sinking near the old transport port, capturing the attention of underwater photographers and videographers worldwide.

ASEZA's Commitment to Conservation and Expansion

ASEZA recently acquired the Lockheed TriStar with the explicit aim of submerging it. This strategic decision complements its military aircraft companion, the Hercules C-130, while expanding the exhibit of military vehicles. Prior to this addition, the military museum already featured an impressive array of tanks, anti-aircraft guns, armored cars, field guns, and helicopter gunships, all submerged in the spring of 2019. The C-130 has since become a beloved diving site, evolving into a thriving ecosystem inhabited by schools of fish, vibrant corals, and diverse marine life.
