A Victory for the Red Sea: Coral Garden Divers Rescue the Northern Power Station Site
the spirit of conservation ran deep in Aqaba, Jordan. At Coral Garden Diving Center, we are celebrating a huge success following our Clean-up Dive at the Northern Power Station site. This was a critical mission to remove the persistent plastic, metal, and glass debris that threatens the fragile ecosystem of the Red Sea
Turning the Tide Against Marine Pollution
The impact of this initiative is truly inspiring. With the dedication of 17 volunteer divers, we collectively pulled a mountain of harmful waste from the depths. The statistics speak for themselves:
- 280 kg (over 617 lbs) of marine debris removed.
- 40 large garbage bags filled with waste, primarily consisting of plastic, aluminum, and glass.
Crucially, every piece of plastic removed from the seabed saves a marine creature from the risks of entanglement or lethal ingestion. This work ensures that the Red Sea's vibrant coral and diverse fish populations can thrive in a cleaner, healthier environment.

Strength in Partnership
This monumental effort would not have been possible without the full backing of dedicated local authorities and institutions. Therefore, we extend our deepest gratitude to our key partners:
- Marine Science Station / University of Jordan
- Civil Defense
- Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) / Marine Park Reserve, represented by Mr. Nasser Al Zawaideh.
In addition, we were honored by the participation of social media influencers who helped amplify the importance of this conservation work to a wider audience.
